Advocates for people with developmental disabilities will hold a rally/news conference on Friday, March 18 at 12:30 pm to remind Governor Cuomo and the Legislature to #bFair2DirectCare in the Drive for $15.
Join us at the Empower Children’s Academy, 9812 Lockport Road, Town of Niagara, NY 14304.
Not-for-profit agencies providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities are calling on the Governor to include funding in the FY 2016-17 state budget to allow them to provide corresponding raises to direct care workers.
#bFair2DirectCare is the call to action to remind state leaders that not-for-profit providers of direct care are agents of the state who need a fair rate to pay for the essential services provided on behalf of New York State. Failure to provide a fair rate to the state’s not-for-profit direct care providers will cause cuts in personnel and services and a loss of services to New Yorkers with autism, serious brain injury, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and other developmental disabilities,
#bFair2DirectCare is also the voice of 128,000 New Yorkers with developmental disabilities, who often cannot speak for themselves.
Please also consider adding your voice to thousands across New York State through this on-line petition.
