  Current Positions

  • RN Employee Health Nurse – Wheatfield, NY – 35 hours per week (primarily 8 AM-4:30 PM, flexible) — Provides and delivers health and safety programs and services to employees. The primary focus will be on the promotion and restoration of health and well-being to employees, the prevention of illness and injuries, and protection from work-related and environmental hazards, which will be instrumental in the reduction of workers’ compensation liability and other costs related to employee illness and injuries. Will review all accident/injury reports to identify probable cause(s) and develop and implement appropriate corrective actions and prevention strategies. Will log applicable accident/injuries into OSHA log. Will ensure employees’ fitness for duty by conducting physical assessments, evaluating medical history, scheduling drug tests and reviewing information collected/test results to make appropriate recommendations. May be required to have on-call responsibilities. Requires: Current New York State Registered Nurse license. Two (2) years professional RN experience in an occupational/employee health nurse capacity. Experience performing physical assessments and with workers’ compensation. Knowledge of occupational health nursing principles, methods, techniques and ethics. Thorough understanding of obligations related to confidentiality, and ability to maintain strict confidentiality, safeguarding employee health information and any and all other employment records privy to. Working knowledge of infectious diseases, OSHA, Worker’s Compensation, NYS DBL, ADA, FMLA, and NYS Paid Family Leave. Must have a valid New York State driver’s license and must meet the Agency’s driving policy, which includes a satisfactory driver’s record (MVR).
  • Greenhouse Assistants (two positions) – Part-time – Wheatfield, NY – 10-20 hours per week (flexible, may include evenings, weekends and holidays) – The Niagara Floral Center and Greenhouse is one of the ways Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara works to promote the maximum potential and integration of people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities by offering volunteer experience in a professional florist and greenhouse setting. The Assistant will: create floral arrangements throughout the year; must be willing to learn about and maintain fresh flowers, florist coolers and floral tools, and will assist with providing training and horticulture therapy relative to greenhouse related programs and information. Must be able to interface with the public in a business manner, and wear appropriate attire. Must be able to attend greenhouse and Agency events to include sales and goodwill events. Implements and monitors the documentation in accordance with the greenhouse operations; follows policy and procedures relative to fiscal responsibilities and inventory in accordance with Greenhouse procedures. Will assist in the proper service delivery in accordance with the Individual Program Plan (IPP) and documents services. Will be active with Individuals in the community as per their needs and program plans. Requires: Associates degree from accredited horticulture program with one (1) year paid greenhouse experience OR High School Diploma/GED with three (3) years paid greenhouse experience OR Certified by an accredited school program (i.e. BOCES) Certified Horticulture Program and two (2) years paid greenhouse experience OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience deemed adequate for the position. Candidates must have a valid New York State driver’s license and meet the Agency’s driving policy, which includes a satisfactory driver’s record (MVR). Must be able to perform medium to heavy lifting of 50+ lbs.
  • Secretary – Niagara Falls – 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday 7:30 AM-4:00 PM – Provide skilled clerical support to Agency programs and departments as assigned. Assist in multiple and various administrative and clerical functions, coordinating the workflow to ensure all assigned tasks are completed accurately and in accordance with designated time lines. Greet and direct visitors to the appropriate staff member(s). Answer incoming calls, providing information and assistance to callers and routing calls to the appropriate staff members. Requires: Associate’s Degree in Business Administration, Secretarial Science or related field plus one (1) year secretarial experience. OR, High School Diploma/GED and one (3) years of secretarial experience required. OR, An equivalent combination of education, training and experience deemed adequate to be able to perform the job at an acceptable level. Must possess a high level of computer proficiency including word processing, spreadsheets, internet and intranet. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required. Must possess strong keyboarding skills, and be well-versed in other areas of office work. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to effectively multitask and be adaptable to handle responsibilities that can frequently change without notice. Must have the ability to maintain a pleasant, professional and courteous manner when communicating with employees, Individuals, or visitors in person, on the telephone or in electronic communications.
  • Floating Site Supervisor for Residential Group Homes (ICF’s) – Sanborn, North Tonawanda & Wheatfield – 40 hours per week, flexible – Along with the three site supervisors, coordinates the daily operation of the three ICF group homes where people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities are supported. Ensures program services are consistently provided in accordance with Individual Program Plans, established regulations and supervises and schedules staff, evaluates staff performance, and ensures staff training is completed. Maintains the physical plant and program property, in a safe and sanitary condition. Responsible as assigned for the security, accounting of, and proper utilization of the Individuals and Program finances. Advocates for the overall well-being of the Individuals residing at the residential facility. Requires: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Service, an area of Human Services, or related field from an accredited program, and 1 year of experience in Human Service capacity, preferably with I/DD population and 6 months direct supervisory experience. Or Associate’s degree in an area of Human Services, Social Science or Social Services field and 2 years direct care experience with I/DD population and 6 months direct supervisory experience. Or High School diploma/GED and 3 years experience to include 6 months direct supervisory experience. Or an equivalent combination of directly relevant education, training and experience deemed acceptable for the position. Must have a valid NYS driver’s license and satisfy the agency’s driving policy, which includes a satisfactory driving record. Must successfully complete all OPWDD mandated training. Must attain certification in SCIP-R.
  • Nursing Support Manager/RN – Niagara County – 40 hours per week, flexible – Provides supervision, guidance and support to RN’s and LPN’s assigned to Agency programs and Residential sites who provide for the health-related needs of individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities (IDD) receiving services through Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara. The Nursing Support Manager will communicate and enforce Agency and regulatory policies, procedures and protocols, performing administrative functions, and may be required to perform skilled nursing duties on occasion as needed. Requires: Bachelor’s Degree in nursing from an accredited program preferred OR Associate’s Degree in Nursing. Must be licensed and currently registered as a registered nurse by the New York State Department of Education. Five (5) years nursing experience is required. A minimum of one year supervisory experience is required, five years is preferred.  Experience working with people with developmental disabilities is preferred. Must have a valid New York State driver’s license and meet the Agency’s driving policy, which includes a satisfactory driver’s record (MVR). Must be physically mobile to visit various Agency sites and provide own transportation.
  • Registered Nurse/Clinical Specialist (2 positions) – Niagara County – 35 hours per week, flexible – Provides the coordination and regular review of health-related needs for individuals who receive services at Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara. The Clinical Specialist functions as an interdisciplinary team member providing consultation, training and oversight of nursing/health care needs. Registered Nurse Diploma/Degree. Must be licensed and currently registered as a nurse by the New York State Department of Education, with specialized training or one (1) year of professional experience. Experience with I/DD population preferred. Must have valid New York State driver’s license and must meet the Agency’s driving policy, which includes a satisfactory driver’s record (MVR). Recommended to attain core level SCIP-R training. Must successfully complete all OPWDD mandate training. Light to medium lifting required. Must maintain licensure as a registered nurse. Must be able to communicate effectively with staff, individuals, and families. Must be physically mobile to visit various Agency sites.
  • Residential Habilitation Aide – Niagara County-Flexible – Per Diem $10.7380 per hour  ($11.238 if med certified) – The Residential Habilitation Aide works with the Supportive Services Team toward the provision of Residential Habilitation/Community Hab services one-on-one for individuals enrolled in the HCBS Waiver living at home in the community. Promotes individual inclusion, independence, individualization, and productivity. High School Diploma/GED required, one (1) year experience working in the Human Services Field preferred. Must have a valid New York State drivers’ license and must meet the Agency’s driving policy, which includes a satisfactory driver’s record (MVR) and have a license for at least one year. Moderate to heavy lifting required. Wheelchair assistance may be required. Must be approved through New York State Register if working with persons under the age of 18. Recommended to attain core level SCIP-R training. Must successfully complete all OMRDD mandated training.
  • Respite Provider – Niagara County-Flexible – Per Diem $10.7380 per hour  ($11.238 if med certified) – The Respite Provider is a direct support professional who works with the Supportive Services team providing in-home respite for the families of a person with an intellectual or other developmental disability (I/DD). This includes, but is not limited to constant supervision, meal preparation, transferring of non-ambulatory individuals and behavior management. Maintain accurate documentation of services provided. High School Diploma/GED required, one (1) year experience working in the Human Services Field preferred. Must have a valid New York State drivers’ license and must meet the Agency’s driving policy, which includes a satisfactory driver’s record (MVR) and have a license for at least one year. Satisfy and maintain Category IV Driving Status. Moderate to heavy lifting required. Wheelchair assistance may be required. Must be approved through New York State Register if working with persons under the age of 18.

Residential Positions

  • Direct Care Professional – Residential Aide – Full time and part time positions available. Provides direct care services to program participants by implementing established active treatment plans and established program services. Provides necessary support and monitoring of program participants to ensure their safety and well-being at all times. The Residential Aide promotes program participant inclusion, individualization, independence, and productivity. High School diploma or equivalent and one year experience in Human Services preferred. Must have a valid NYS driver’s license and satisfy the agency’s driving policy, which includes a satisfactory driving record and have a license for at least one year. Must successfully complete all OPWDD mandated training. Pay rate $11.7292 per hour. (Overnight Residential Aide $12.3694 per hour – no driver’s license required.)
  • Direct Care Professional – Behavioral Assistant – Full time and part time positions available.  Functions as an adjunctive member of the Interdisciplinary Team (ITT), participating in and providing input into the formulation of the individual resident’s program plan. High School diploma or equivalent and one year experience in Human Services preferred. Must have a valid NYS driver’s license and satisfy the agency’s driving policy, which includes a satisfactory driving record and have a license for at least one year. Must successfully complete all OPWDD mandated training. Pay rate $12.3694 per hour. (Overnight BA $12.3694 per hour – no driver’s license required.)
  • Direct Care Professional – Residential Program Specialist – Full time and part time positions available. Responsible for implementation of the individual resident’s program plan. Provides direct assistance and supervision of the individual residents and support for adult daily living skills and housekeeping tasks. Responsible to complete administrative and clinical tasks. High School diploma or equivalent two (2) years Human Services experience preferred; one (1) year required. Must have a valid NYS driver’s license and satisfy the agency’s driving policy, which includes a satisfactory driving record and have a license for at least one year. Must successfully complete all OPWDD mandated training. Pay rate $12.3694 per hour.
  • Direct Care Professional Relief positions in locations across Niagara County. Provides direct care services to program participants by implementing established active treatment plans and established program services. Provides necessary support and monitoring of program participants to ensure their safety and well-being at all times. Flexible schedules. High School diploma or equivalent and one year experience in Human Services preferred. Must successfully complete all OPWDD mandated training. Driver’s license is preferred, but not required. Pay rate $10.7380 per hour Residential and Day Programs.
