  Current Positions

  • Quality Management Specialist – Niagara County – 40 hours per week, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, flexible if needed – Ensure the regulatory compliance of all provision of services by investigating, documenting and resolving Quality Management (QM) concerns; performing ongoing observation and assessment of service delivery; providing instruction, feedback and support to staff/ management.       Responsibilities involve a flexible schedule to include some evenings and weekends. Bachelor’s Degree and two (2) years’ experience working in the Human Services field. Or, Associate’s Degree and four (4) years’ experience working in the Human Service Field. OR, an equivalent combination of education and experience deemed appropriate for the position. Experience in completing investigations strongly preferred. Must successfully complete investigator training. Requires effective communication and writing skills to include excellent listening and interviewing skills. Must have a valid NYS driver’s license and must meet the Agency’s driving requirements, which includes a satisfactory driver’s license record (MVR). Must have knowledge of OPWDD Regulations, including 633 and 624/625, and the ability to interpret said regulations.
  • Building Maintenance Specialist – Niagara County – 40 hours per week, flexible – Maintains, repairs, renovates, and constructs building mechanicals and equipment for 24 commercial and residential properties. Vocational/High School Graduate or GED required. Must have a minimum of three (3) years supervised experience in plumbing, carpentry, millwrighting, painting, electrical, and/or masonry work. Must be proficient in the use of hand tools. Required to be on-call with a flexible schedule and respond to emergency repair requests. Must have a valid NYS driver’s license and must meet the Agency’s driving requirements, which includes a satisfactory driver’s license record (MVR).
  • Residential Site Supervisors – Niagara County – Full-time 40 hours per week, flexible (IRA – Sunday-Thursday) – under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director of Residential Operations coordinates the daily operation of an IRA and ICF. The Site Supervisor ensures program services are consistently provided in accordance with Individual Program Plans, established regulations the “3 IP’s” and the “Five Governing Principals”, supervises and schedules staff, evaluates staff performance, and ensures staff training is completed. Responsible for maintaining the physical plant and program property, in a safe and sanitary condition. Responsible for the security, accounting of, and proper utilization of Individual and program finances.  Advocates for the overall well-being of Individuals residing at the residential facility. Bachelor’s Degree in Social Service or Human Service field, and one (1) year experience in Human Services capacity, preferably working with the developmentally disabled population.  To include at least six (6) months direct supervisory experience.  OR, Associate’s Degree in Human Service Social Science, or Social Services, two (2) years direct experience preferably working with the developmentally disabled population.  To include six (6) months direct supervisory experience.  OR, High School Diploma/GED and three (3) years of experience.  To include six (6) months direct supervisory experience.  OR, an equivalent combination of education, training and experience deemed acceptable for the position. Must have valid New York State driver’s license and must meet the Agency’s driving policy, which includes a satisfactory driver’s license record (MVR).
  • Registered Nurse/Clinical Specialist – Niagara County – 35 hours per week, flexible – Provides the coordination and regular review of health-related needs for individuals who receive services at Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara. The Clinical Specialist functions as an interdisciplinary team member providing consultation, training and oversight of nursing/health care needs. Registered Nurse Diploma/Degree. Must be licensed and currently registered as a nurse by the New York State Department of Education, with specialized training or one (1) year of professional experience. Experience with I/DD population preferred. Must have valid New York State driver’s license and must meet the Agency’s driving policy, which includes a satisfactory driver’s record (MVR). Recommended to attain core level SCIP-R training. Must successfully complete all OPWDD mandate training. Light to medium lifting required. Must maintain licensure as a registered nurse. Must be able to communicate effectively with staff, individuals, and families. Must be physically mobile to visit various Agency sites.
  • Licensed Practical Nurse/Clinical Professional 2 (2 positions) – Niagara County – 35 hours per week, flexible – Practical Nurse licensed and currently registered as a LPN by the NYS Department of Education, with one (1) year of professional experience in human service field working with individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities preferred. Must have valid NYS driver’s license and a satisfactory driver’s record (MVR). Must be physically mobile to visit various Agency sites. Shares the responsibility for medical oversight for individuals supported through the residential and/or day programs. Assists in the evaluation of individuals for nursing care, and provides input into the development of the written nursing plans. Attends medical appointments as directed. Attends individual’s meetings as directed. Assists direct care staff as needed and provides medical direction to co-workers.
  • Behavior Intervention Specialist – Niagara County – 35 hours per week – Provides coordination, assessment, facilitation and development of behavior programming. Appropriate implementation and review of documentation for all individuals in the Residential Program/Day Programs, in accordance with Office of People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) and its regulations. Master’s degree in a clinical or treatment field in psychology, social work, school psychology, or a related human services field; and function in the Psychologist I or Psychologist II Civil Service titles. OR, Bachelor’s Degree in human services field; and have provided behavioral services for an agency in the OPWDD system continuously since December 31, 2012; and either: 1. Is actively working toward a Master’s degree in an applied area of psychology, social work, or special education; or, 2. Completes at least one graduate-level course in an applied health service area of applied psychology, social work, or special education each year the qualifying Master’s degrees referenced in this paragraph, including any degree obtained through an online educational or distance learning program, must have been awarded by a regionally accredited college or university, or one recognized by the NYS Education Department as following acceptable educational practices. Must be able to listen and communicate effectively with peers, staff, & parents/guardians. Must have word processing knowledge and skills. Must be physically mobile to visit various Agency sites. Sedentary work in addition to perform light to medium lifting techniques required per program needs. Must have valid New York State driver’s license and must meet the Agency’s driving policy, which includes a satisfactory driver’s record (MVR).
  • Behavior Technicians (two positions) – Niagara County – 35 hours per week (includes evening and weekend hours). Assisting with facilitation of behavior programming in conjunction with the Behavior Intervention Specialist. Appropriate implementation and review of documentation for all individuals in the designated waiver programs, in accordance with Office of People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) and its regulations. High School Diploma with two (2) years of experience working with the intellectually/developmentally disabled population is required. Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in human services, psychology, behavioral science or other related field helpful. OR, An equivalent combination of directly relevant education, training and experience deemed adequate to effectively perform the job. Basic knowledge of behavioral theories, practices and programs. Keen observation skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to interact effectively and positively with Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities with patience, compassion and commitment. Must be able to listen and communicate effectively with peers, staff and parents/guardians. Ability to work independently with limited supervision and work in a team environment to produce positive results with fellow team members. Must possess the ability to maintain accurate records, prepare reports, compose correspondence and meet strict deadlines. Must have the ability to operate a personal computer and general office equipment including the use of Microsoft Office Suite word processing, databases, email and the internet. Must have a valid New York State driver’s license and must meet the Agency’s driving policy, which includes maintaining an acceptable driving record (MVR). Must be able to perform lifting techniques as per program or site specific needs with no restrictions. Must successfully complete all OPWDD mandated trainings. Must complete and maintain certification in SCIP-R, with restrictive certification.
  • Residential Habilitation Aide – Niagara County-Flexible – Per Diem $9.89 per hour ($10.39 if med certified) – The Residential Habilitation Aide works with the Supportive Services Team toward the provision of Residential Habilitation/Community Hab services one-on-one for individuals enrolled in the HCBS Waiver living at home in the community. Promotes individual inclusion, independence, individualization, and productivity. High School Diploma/GED required, one (1) year experience working in the Human Services Field preferred. Must have a valid New York State drivers’ license and must meet the Agency’s driving policy, which includes a satisfactory driver’s record (MVR) and have a license for at least one year. Moderate to heavy lifting required. Wheelchair assistance may be required. Must be approved through New York State Register if working with persons under the age of 18. Recommended to attain core level SCIP-R training. Must successfully complete all OMRDD mandated training.
  • Respite Provider – Niagara County-Flexible – Per Diem $9.89 per hour ($10.39 if med certified) – The Respite Provider is a direct support professional who works with the Supportive Services team providing in-home respite for the families of a person with an intellectual or other developmental disability (I/DD). This includes, but is not limited to constant supervision, meal preparation, transferring of non-ambulatory individuals and behavior management. Maintain accurate documentation of services provided. High School Diploma/GED required, one (1) year experience working in the Human Services Field preferred. Must have a valid New York State drivers’ license and must meet the Agency’s driving policy, which includes a satisfactory driver’s record (MVR) and have a license for at least one year. Satisfy and maintain Category IV Driving Status. Moderate to heavy lifting required. Wheelchair assistance may be required. Must be approved through New York State Register if working with persons under the age of 18.

Residential Positions

  • Direct Care Professional – Residential Aide – Full time and part time positions available. Provides direct care services to program participants by implementing established active treatment plans and established program services. Provides necessary support and monitoring of program participants to ensure their safety and well-being at all times. The Residential Aide promotes program participant inclusion, individualization, independence, and productivity. High School diploma or equivalent and one year experience in Human Services preferred. Must have a valid NYS driver’s license and satisfy the agency’s driving policy, which includes a satisfactory driving record and have a license for at least one year. Must successfully complete all OPWDD mandated training. Pay rate $11.36 per hour. (Overnight Residential Aide $11.98 per hour – no driver’s license required.)
  • Direct Care Professional – Behavioral Assistant – Full time and part time positions available.  Functions as an adjunctive member of the Interdisciplinary Team (ITT), participating in and providing input into the formulation of the individual resident’s program plan. High School diploma or equivalent and one year experience in Human Services preferred. Must have a valid NYS driver’s license and satisfy the agency’s driving policy, which includes a satisfactory driving record and have a license for at least one year. Must successfully complete all OPWDD mandated training. Pay rate $11.98 per hour. (Overnight BA $11.98 per hour – no driver’s license required.)
  • Direct Care Professional – Residential Program Specialist – Full time and part time positions available. Responsible for implementation of the individual resident’s program plan. Provides direct assistance and supervision of the individual residents and support for adult daily living skills and housekeeping tasks. Responsible to complete administrative and clinical tasks. High School diploma or equivalent two (2) years Human Services experience preferred; one (1) year required. Must have a valid NYS driver’s license and satisfy the agency’s driving policy, which includes a satisfactory driving record and have a license for at least one year. Must successfully complete all OPWDD mandated training. Pay rate $11.98 per hour.
  • Direct Care Professional Relief positions in locations across Niagara County. Provides direct care services to program participants by implementing established active treatment plans and established program services. Provides necessary support and monitoring of program participants to ensure their safety and well-being at all times. Flexible schedules. High School diploma or equivalent and one year experience in Human Services preferred. Must successfully complete all OPWDD mandated training. Driver’s license is preferred, but not required. Pay rate $10.41 per hour Residential and $9.37 for Day Programs.
